The Black Stove Alvor - Algarve
Great value pub grub is available here. And of course, every sport known to man, show at any hour of the day. Being an Irish bar, spontaneous singing is in order!
The Black Stove Irish bar in Alvor opened its doors in 2005. Since then many a happy holiday maker has quenched his thirst, cheered his team and tapped his foot to the great live music.
Alvor is one of the Algarve's most popular resorts. As an authentic algarvian fishing village turned holiday haven it deserves an authentic irish bar - and that's what it has in The Black Stove. The décor of the bar, as it is Irish owned and run, is classically Irish. The long wooden bar is conducive to rambling conversations with strangers and bartenders. The walls are adorned with a huge array of signed photos and the piano in the corner doesn't get much chance to gather dust. There is live music every night from a range of performers, including resident musician Keith, with lively renditions of Irish, pop and rock classics. A shout out too for the Black Stove Juke Box. Not only is it free, it's updated each month to bring you the latest sounds.
Following in the best traditions of Irish bars the world over, The Black Stove extends a warm welcome to all nationalities and ages. All your favourite drinks are available served up with a smile and a chat. Food is served at The Black Stove all day - from snacks and sandwiches to full meals of chicken, fish or steaks. There is even a late-night food take away option for when the munchies strike...... There is a downstairs games room (complete with CCTV system) and several large screen TVs dotted around the bar. You can keep up with all the major sporting events here, including GAA fixtures and the main racing meets, should you fancy a flutter.
