Quinta do Lago - Algarve

“More a way of life than a holiday destination.”

Quinta do Lago was founded by Polish-Brazilian property developer André Jordan in 1972. Jordan saw potential in the 550 hectare beachfront estate, formerly owned by the Pinto de Magalhães family for more than 300 years. Over four successful decades have proved him right.

Today, Quinta do Lago lies within the Algarve’s ‘Golden Triangle’, an area considered to be the most exclusive in the region. The Resort occupies over 800 hectares, 18 of which fall within the Ria Formosa Natural Park - a tranquil estuary of fresh and saltwater lagoons, islands and marshes, established as a Nature Reserve with UNESCO protected status in 1987 – a privileged position indeed.

The ultimate holiday destination
Everything about Quinta do Lago suggests opulence - from the individually designed splendid properties and stunning golf courses, to the prestigious five-star luxury hotel, superior facilities, first class restaurants and immaculate grounds, fronted by a magnificent stretch of white sand.

Quinta do Lago is popular with A-listers, footballers and other well-know personalities. The Beckhams have been spotted holidaying at Quinta do Lago, while former England footballer Teddy Sheringham and Formula 1 race driver Rubens Barrichello are among many celebrities who are said to own property at the Resort.

There are family-orientated golfing activities and watersports too, plus extra special entertainment for the kids. And, if you’re visiting Quinta do Lago during the Olympic Games, you’ll be able to support your team at venues around the Resort.

And, just because you’re on holiday doesn’t mean you have to miss out on your daily work out. Quinta do Lago’s Active Q Gym is equipped with the latest state of the art exercise machines and offers interactive training programmes and motivational activities.

An area of natural beauty
Quinta do Lago is surrounded by natural beauty. The Ria Formosa Natural Park is a nature-lovers paradise. The Park is inhabited by a variety of birds, including many rare breeds, and the area has the largest population of seahorses in the world. A boardwalk crosses part of the Park’s salt marsh, and there are a number of good paths perfect for enjoying a walk or run. What’s more, most of the Park’s main areas are suitable for wheelchair users and baby buggies.

If you feel like relaxing by the Ocean, a sandy white beach and the azure-blue Atlantic is a stone’s throw away. A wooden bridge will take you over the Ria Formosa’s tidal lagoon to Praia Quinta do Lago – one of the Algarve’s Blue Flag beaches.

The dining experience

With nine restaurants serving a diverse range of quality food and drink, and an open-all-day Clubhouse to cater for hungry golfers, dining out at Quinta do Lago doesn’t necessarily mean leaving the Resort. You can grab a coffee and a delicious pastry, or a freshly made sandwich and a refreshing cocktail, at Gigi’s or Koko Beach. You can choose to chill out at The Shack, or treat the family to lunch at Koko Lane, where the menu’s always a winner with the kids. The aged Irish beef steaks at Bovino Steakhouse come highly recommended and Bovino’s exceptional Sunday Love Brunch with international DJ’s and entertainment is not to be missed. Alternatively, you can savour the finest French cuisine at the elegant Casa Velha, or sample freshly caught local seafood in the seaside chic of Casa do Lago.

When it comes to dining experiences, Quinta do Lago must be applauded for creativity and innovation – its recent Dinner in the Sky event was a soaring success, so keep an eye on our calendar for future one-offs like this.

Five-star golf facilities
Quinta do Lago is a leading European golfing destination. It boasts three award-winning par-72 championship courses and exceptional practice facilities, including Europe’s only Paul McGinley Golf Academy and the only TaylorMade Performance Centre in Southern Europe.

In 2014, the Resort invested heavily in its North Course. The project included rebuilding of all greens, tees, bunkers, irrigation and drainage systems and cart paths, using the latest state-of-the-art technology. Cool season grass in the primary rough areas was also introduced and a low-cut Bermuda grass approach was created around greens to provide numerous recovery shot options for players. The aesthetics of the golf course were also significantly improved.
